My 1979 has a J Type for the three rail gearbox, but it's on a single rail gearbox. Not talking about the D type or the A type Overdrives. Difference was the dashpot relief valves. A J type that was installed on the three rail gearbox, and one on the single rail gearbox. Two J type overdrives were installed from 1974 to 1980. I have searched and found 19 threads dealing with OD problems, 3 produced some photos. In reverse, sometimes in forward engaged, sometimes in 1st or 2nd direct.
